Neither one is built for looking back at the year of trails you actually ran. The closest you can get on Strava is a personal heatmap - locked behind their $79.99 subscription, and only including the runs you remembered to record in Strava.
MoveMap takes a different angle. It reads from Apple Health (where every trail-running app on iPhone already stores its workouts), and draws all of them as one map. AllTrails recordings, Strava runs, Garmin Fenix data, Suunto adventures, Coros expeditions - they all land in Apple Health, so they all land in MoveMap.
Any iPhone app that writes outdoor workouts with GPS to Apple Health is supported automatically. No re-import. No OAuth. No per-app configuration.

MoveMap reads elevation alongside GPS. Coverage stats show total vertical gain per region and your highest-elevation activity.
Show only trail runs, only hikes, or both. Combine with the year scrubber to see a specific season or training block.
See your trail territory as a density heatmap. Trails you've run repeatedly glow bright; one-time adventures stay dim - useful for finding gaps in your local exploration.
Run a climb you've done before? MoveMap quietly overlays your earliest attempt as a ghost trail with a pace delta. No leaderboards.
Export a 1080x1920 portrait of every trail run from a year. Mountains, ultras, and easy days all in one shareable image.
MoveMap is not a navigation app. It doesn't give you turn-by-turn directions on the trail, doesn't download offline trail maps (use AllTrails for that), and doesn't recommend new trails to explore. It's a retrospective tool - a visualization for the trail running you've already done.
It pairs well with whatever you use during the run. Keep using AllTrails or your Garmin watch for navigation. Use MoveMap to see the year afterwards.

Yes. The activity filter lets you show only "Hiking" or only "Trail Running" categories from Apple Health. The exact split depends on how each app categorized the activity when it wrote to Health.
Yes. There's no distance cap on a single workout. MoveMap renders the full GPS polyline whether it's a 5k loop or a 100-mile mountain ultra. Longer routes naturally take longer to render initially but stay smooth in the lifetime view.
Yes. Both Suunto and Coros iPhone apps sync to Apple Health by default. Confirm the Apple Health integration is enabled in each app's settings, then your watch data appears in MoveMap.
